Children’s Promise Act

In the Regular Session of 2019, the Mississippi legislature passed the Children’s Promise Act, which establishes income tax credits for individuals and businesses who contribute to certain charitable organizations. The credits will be equal to the amount contributed by the business or individual and will allow for a 5-year carryforward for any unused credits.

Listings of these organizations may be found at the following links.

For business contributions, click here for a listing of organizations that are certified as an eligible charitable organization (ECOs).

For individual contributions, click here for a listing of charitable organizations that are certified as either a qualifying charitable organization (QCOs) or a qualifying foster care charitable organization.

The State has allocated $5 million a year for contributions from businesses to ECOs and $3 million a year for contributions from individuals to QCOs.

These credits are being allocated on a first come, first served basis, and they will not last long.
